Description
Cotton mold duct tubing is a hollow cotton rope that is used in making air-purged ceramic molds. The cotton mold duct tubing is wound and fastened to a wire frame. Plaster is then poured over the wire frame so the mold duct tubing is inside the plaster mold. When connected to an air source the compressed air follows the hollow channels caused by the cotton mold duct and percolates evenly through the plaster mold. Any water in the pores of the plaster will steam from the surface of the plaster. This purges water from the pores of the mold for quicker drying or it releases clay from the mold in the RAM Press process.
